We had another multi-annual LARPing weekend with Epitome. Things went pretty smoothly, if you don’t count the several feet of snow we got. We were supposed to run until midnight, but things got pretty dicey around 9pm, so we called the game at that point. All in all, it was pretty enjoyable.
I’m looking for a job right now. Currently I’m foolishly looking for a job I’d like, but I’m sure I’ll get stuck somewhere I hate again doing something I loathe. I can barely wait. Shh. Hear that sound? It’s the shattering porcelain of my dreams, crashing through the floor onto the cement of reality.
Other than that, things are swell. The cats are killing mice, the construction out back has stopped, leaving a gaping maw of real estate, and my driveway has been dug up by plows. Good times abound.
Anyway, here’s the GOP dictionary for your enjoyment. I laughed the laugh of the suicidal.

My cousin Birch is currently stationed in Germany, and we just found out he’s getting married to a nice Ukranian girl named Yana. They’re going to be tieing the knot in Toender, Denmark on Feb. 24th. Unfortunately, it looks like Birch has been activated for duty in Iraq, and he’ll probably be shipping out sometime in May.
For those of you who don’t know Birch – he’s the third oldest cousin, after myself and my cousin Jason. He was stationed in South Korea for a time, then got a transfer to Germany in the hopes of not going to Iraq but, what with enlistment at an all-time low and such, there doesn’t seem much hope for that.
Anyway, the useless prayers of an atheist go with him. If you, gentle reader, are a religious type, throw a prayer out there for him and for his new wife. It sure as hell can’t hurt, but hopefully it won’t be needed.

I had read about the geek hierarchy a long time ago, but I was never able to find it again, particularly since I couldn’t remember it being called “the geek hierarchy.” Fortunately, the boys over at Penny Arcade came through again, so I have linked to it.
You’ll notice that LARPers are pretty far down that list. That’s accurate, in case you’re wondering.

Lots of snow here last night – probably about 6 to 8 inches. The nice plow man came and ripped up my driveway, but at least I can get out into civilization, should I want to.
I haven’t done a Microsoft post in awhile, soooo…
Gates was at the Consumer Electronics Show and apparently had some technical difficulties, including the blue screen of death and a system lock. This, of course, made it all over the Open Source community news sites. Gates also told cNET that certain people who don’t support new intellectual property laws are “communists” who “…want to get rid of the incentive for musicians and moviemakers and software makers under various guises.” He must be reading different stuff than I am

Happy New Year, everyone. Hope things were fruitful.
I just wanted to say that I’m killing the e-mail address stefan@gadhra.com. Unfortunately, the amount of spam I get every day has resulted in me missing a few key messages from friends of mine. I’m going to be using my gmail account exclusively from here on. For those of you who are concerned with gmail’s privacy (or lack thereof), fear not – the contact page is forwarding to a non-published gadhra.com address, and I’ll respond to you that way.
For those of you who DO have my e-mail address, I’d like to politely ask that you not FUCKING SIGN ME UP FOR ANYTHING! I’m cautious about giving out my e-mail addy, and to see that caution completely fucked up because one of you feels I need free this or that. I don’t.
Anyway, it sucks that the e-mail address of my first name has to be thrown away, but what are ya gonna do. Live and learn.
